23rd Day - Today we shall learn about Imperative Sentences and use of words - 'Let' and 'Make'. >> Thereafter >> You are to go through Day-To-Day-English Lesson & attempt Quiz of the Day.
An imperative sentence is a command or polite request. 'Let' gives permission to do something and the other person has an option to do it or not whereas 'Make' forces to do something and the other person has to do it whether he wants to do it or not.

तेइसवाँ दिन - आज हम आदेशात्मक वाक्य और शब्द 'Let और Make' के प्रयोग के बारे में सीखेंगे । । >> उसके बाद >> आपको रोज इंग्लिश बोलचाल के वाक्य को पढ़ना/समझना है और आज के विषय पर क्विज़ को करना है ।
'Let' कुछ करने की इजाजत देता है और दूसरे व्यक्ति के पास विकल्प होता है की वह कार्य करें या नही जबकी 'Make' कुछ करने का दबाव डालता है या प्रवृत करता है और दूसरे व्यक्ति के पास कोई विकल्प नही होता चाहे वह कार्य करना चाहता है या नही, उसे करना पड़ता है ।

Imperative Sentence And Use of Let & Make

Let

'Let' is one of the commonest words in English. Its simple meaning is to allow, to give permission and to give on rent. In terms of meaning 'to give on rent', Let is used just like other verbs. Here we will focus on its usage in terms of meaning 'to allow or to give permission'.

'Let' इंग्लिश भाषा का एक कॉमन शब्द है । इसका साधारण अर्थ है - इजाजत देना, अनुमति देना और भाड़े पर देना । 'भाड़े पर देना' के तौर पर 'LET' का इस्तेमाल बाकि क्रिया शब्दों की तरह ही होता है । यहाँ हम इसके अर्थ - अनुमति देना या इजाजत देना के ऊपर केन्द्रित करेंगें ।

Let, Lets and Let's

'Let' - Let is a verb. 'Lets'- 's' is added with verb Let for using with third person singular subject. e.g. Teachers let students to go home early. The teacher lets students to go home early.

‘Let’s‘ is a contraction of 'let us'. e.g. Let us (or Let's) go to see movie.

Use of Let

We use 'Let' to give permission or allow someone to do something. Don't use 'TO' with 'LET'

'Let' के प्रयोग में 'उसे / मुझे .. यह / वह' करने दो वाले वाक्य होते है । 'LET' के बाद 'To' का प्रयोग नही करते ।

Examples

मुझे आराम करने दो ।	Let me take rest.
अव्यन को पार्क में खेलने दो ।	Let Avyan play in the garden.
उसे मेट्रो में सफर करने दो ।	Let him travel in the Metro.
उनको दोबारा प्रयास करने दो ।	Let them try again.
मुझे तुम्हारे लिये एक ड्रिंक लाने दो ।	Let me get you a drink.
मुझे देखने दो ।	Let me see.
मुझे चलाने दो ।	Let me drive.
रहने दो ।	Let it be.
बच्चों को अपने निर्णय लेने दो ।	Let children take their decisions.
उसे रोड़ पर चलने दो ।	Let him walk on road.
उसे गरीब लोगो की मदद करने दो ।	Let him help the poor people.
उसे रोने मत दो ।	Do not let her weep.
उसे उस पार्क में मत खेलने दो ।	Do not let him play in that park.
उसे घर में मत आने दो ।	Do not let him come in the house.
उन्हें सच मत देखने दो ।	Do not let them see the truth.

Use of Let Us / Let's

'Let us' is used as a polite way of making or responding to a suggestion, giving an instruction, making an offer of help.

'Let us' के प्रयोग में 'आओ हम ..... करें' वाले वाक्य होते है । नम्रता से सुझाव देना या जवाब देना, या निर्देश देना या सहायता की पेशकश करना आदि के रूप में प्रयोग होता है ।

Examples

आओ हम देश की सेवा करें ।	Let us / Let's serve the country.
आओ हम पिक्चर इकट्ठे देखने चलें ।	Let us / Let's go to see a movie together.
आओ हम थोड़ी कॉफी लें ।	Let us / Let's get some coffee.
आओ अपने मतभेद एक तरफ करें और नई शुरुआत करें ।	Let us / Let's put our differences aside and make a new start.
हम कल तक का इंतजार करें ।	Let us / Let's wait until tomorrow.
चलो, हम उसकी सेहत के बारे में पूछें ।	Come/Come on, let us / let's enquire about his health.
अब हम विषय बदलें ।	Let us / Let's change the subject now.
आओ तुम्हारे बेटे की सगाई की बात करें ।	Let us / Let's talk about your son's engagement.
हम उस झगड़े में शामिल ना हो ।	Let us / Let's not involve in his quarrel.
हम रोड़ पर ना चलें ।	Let us / Let's not walk on the road.
आओ बांयी और चलें ।	Let us keep to the left.

Other Examples

कनिका के पापा ने उसे अपने मोबाइल से खेलने दिया ।	Kanika's father let her play with his mobile.
साक्षी के बॉस ने उस दिन उसे जल्दी जाने दिया ।	SaakShi's boss let her leave early on that day.
तुम्हें अपना पास जरूर रखना चाहिये जो तुम्हें ट्रेड़ फेर में प्रवेश लेने देता है ।	You must keep your pass which lets you enter in the trade fair.
डॉक्टर ने उसकी पत्नी को सलाह दी, "तुम्हारे पति को एक हफ़्ते में दो बार ड्रिंक लेने दो" ।	Doctor advised his wife, "let your husband take a drink twice a week".
यदि वह बाहर जाना चाहता है, उसे जाने दो ।	If he wants to walk out, let him!
A और B को क्रमशः X और Y के लिये माने ।	Let A and B stand for X and Y respectively.
मुझे बताओ तुम उसके बारे में क्या सोचते हो ?	Let me know what do you think of him?
अब मुझे देखने दो, तुमने यह कहाँ रखा ?	Now let me see, where did I put it?
मुझे तुम्हें बताने दो, मैं बहुत डरा हुआ था ।	Let me tell you, I was very scared!
वह बाहर जाना चाहती थी परंतु उसके माता पिता ने उसे नही जाने दिया ।	She wanted to go out but her parents did not let her.
तुम्हारे जूतों को पहनने से पहले पूरा सूख जाने दो	Let your shoes dry completely before putting them on.
तुम्हारी मम्मी को तुम्हारी चिंता करने मत दो ।	Don't let your mom worry you.
अगर उसे पैसे की जरूरत है, उसे कमाने दो ।	If he needs money, let him earn it!
मैं पुलिस को उसके ऑफीस की तलाशी लेने नही दूंगा ।	I won't let the police search his office.
क्या में यह ड़िब्‍बा इस कमरे से दूसरे में रख दूं । नही, इसे यहीं रहने दो ।	Should I move this box from this room to another? No. Let it be here.
